Californian Poppy

The Californian Poppy, is also known as golden poppy, it is a herbaceous plant from the poppy family that occurs naturally in the west part of USA and in western Mexico. The flower symbolizes the state of California. In our webshop we only have the Californian Poppy seeds single-flowered mix.

It is a perennial or annual plant that can grow up to 40 centimetres high and has blue-green, alternately placed leaves that are finely divided and slip-formed.Read more

The flowers of the Californian Poppy

The flowers only stand on long, silky stems and have four leaves of 2 to 6 centimeters long and wide. The colour is usually orange, but can vary from yellow to dark orange. The Californian Poppy flowerd from February to September. At night or in cold or windy weather the petals close, which gave the flower its Dutch name.
