Sweet Peas

The sweet pea is a real cut flower. You can enjoy it for a very long time!  The only disadvantage of most sweet peas is the relatively short stem of the flowers, although there are also varieties with longer stems. If you want to use the flowers as a cut flower after they have grown from the seeds, you can place them in a vase. Please note! They will stay beautiful for a long(er) time if you use clean water but not too much.Read more

Longer bloom

To keep flowering, it is necessary to cut the flowers out, because as soon as the plants are given the chance to go over to pod formation, the formation of new flowers stops. If you cut them out regularly, flowering will continue even until the first frost period.

Cultivation of sweet pea seeds

The sweet pea is grown from seed. In Dutch shops there are usually mixtures and the assortment is limited. More specialised web shops, such as ours, have various kinds of sweet pea seeds for different colours.

The taller varieties of Lathyrus are excellent climbers and smell delicious. Sow directly in the garden from April - May in a sunny place. Also a very nice cut flower.
