"A favourite for tasty and crisp, self branching stems"
An unbeatable old variety for early crops of thick, tasty stems that are 'self blanching' and full of flavour. Perfect for a fragrant French celery soup. Briefly fry onion, garlic, celery and potato, add white wine and reduce by half, add vegetable stock, simmer then season and blend together.
For indoor sowing:
From March to May, in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep approx. 15ºC. Seedlings appear 14-21 days.
Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant singly into 7.5cm. pots. Stand outside for a few days late May. Transplant to final position with 23cm. between plants and rows. Keep moist and weed free.
