Growing and Sowing of Morning Glory

Morning glory, also known as Ipomoea, is an annual climbing plant known for its rapid growth and large, trumpet-shaped flowers. The flowers, which are often blue, purple, pink, or white, bloom for only one day. However, this plant produces new flowers every day. Morning glory is especially popular for its decorative value and for growing against fences or trellises to cover them.

Sowing and growing Morning Glory

Morning glory is a climbing plant. It therefore needs support to grow upwards. The plant, which can grow up to 3 meters tall, blooms with large, trumpet-shaped flowers that are often blue, purple, pink, or white. It is an annual plant whose flowers bloom for only one day. However, the plant produces many flowers over an extended period. By the way, this beautiful bloomer is toxic, including to pets.

Sowing Morning Glory

You can start sowing indoors in March or April in pots or seed trays with fine potting soil. Outdoors, sowing can be done from mid-April to the end of May. Since morning glory seeds are light germinators, they should not be covered with soil or only very lightly covered. Transplant the seedlings when they are about 8 cm tall. From the end of May, the plants can be planted outside in their permanent location. The seeds can optionally be soaked for 24 hours before sowing.
