Sowing columbine seeds can be done outdoors from May to July on a sheltered seedbed in partial shade. Since columbine is a light germinator, the seeds should be scattered on the surface of finely raked, weed-free soil and pressed down lightly.
The seedbed must be kept constantly, slightly moist. In the months of October and November, the young plants are strong enough to be transplanted to their final location, using a planting distance of 30 x 30 cm. Before winter, the plants develop a strong root system and will bloom the following spring from May to July.
