Digitalis purpurea or foxglove seeds ‘mixed’ is an exceptionally elegant mixture featuring finely coloured variations and large, bell-shaped flowers up to approximately 5 cm wide. These flowers appear in long clusters and are often speckled on the inside. The wild form is native to Europe, and this variety grows as a low-growing rosette of leaves in its first year, before producing a tall flower stalk in the second year. The plant tolerates a relatively high amount of shade, although the flower stalks remain slightly more compact in lower light conditions. After propagation, the young plants can be transplanted to their permanent location with a spacing of about 35 x 35 cm for optimal development.

Foxglove can be sown in two ways: early in the year from February to March under glass, after which the young plants can be transplanted outdoors in April, or later directly outside in their permanent location from June to August. With both methods, it is important to sow the seeds shallowly onto moist, well-draining soil so they can germinate properly and develop into strong plants. Use gloves!
