How to grow and sow long yard beans

As described above, yardlong beans need a lot of heat, so our climate is not very suitable. Nevertheless, it is possible to get a good harvest here too if the summer months are warm enough. Yardlong beans must therefore always be grown in a greenhouse.

Yardlong beans needs a sunny, warm position with well-drained soil. Fertilize occasionally. When watering, make sure that the water is not too cold.

Sowing and planting of yardlong beans

You  can sow the seeds indoors from the end of April. Water regularly, but make sure the soil is not soaking wet. This can cause the beans to rot. When the plant is big enough it can be planted in a greenhouse from the end of May/beginning of June. It can be be placed in the garden, but this must be in a very warm, wind-sheltered place. A greenhouse is therefore the best choice.
